Remote Desktop & VDI Service  (connecting to your Penn State computer)

Windows 7 (and older) 
(This service requires Internet Explorer)

System requirements (one time only)


Step 1:
Go to https://trusted.bd.psu.edu to setup your user account to use Remote Desktop. (this is only required once a semester or when you change your Access account password)

Step 2:
Follow the Academic Remote Services link below to access your office computer. Please enter your account information using the following format:

psu-erie\youruserid
(Example: psu-erie\abc123)

Note: Any prompts for credentials need to have psu-erie\ included prior to your username.

Step 3: Select Remote Desktops.



Step 4: In the "Connect to:" field ...enter your Penn State computer name - example (SOBHWP07000)

Step 5: Choose 'connect' and Enter your credentials

Example
: psu-erie\abc123

Click the to go to: Academic Remote Services

        Note: if you experience an incorrect password please visit https://trusted.bd.psu.edu to verify your remote connection permissions



Windows 8

Step 1: Go to https://trusted.bd.psu.edu to setup your user account to use Remote Lab. (this is only required once a semester or when you change your Access account password)

Step 2:
 Go to your Windows Store and search for the Microsoft Remote Desktop app

Install

Step 3: Open the Microsoft Remote Desktop App and Configure the Gateway by going to "Use a Remote Desktop Gateway server"

Enter:
gateway.psu-erie.bd.psu.edu





Step 4: Enter your Windows PC Name at the bottom

Step 4: Connect

 


MAC

Step 1: Go to https://trusted.bd.psu.edu to setup your user account to use Remote Lab. (this is only required once a semester or when you change your Access account password)

Step 2:
 Download  and open the free Microsoft Remote Desktop app for iPad

Step 3: Configure the Gateway by going to Settings -- Gateway

Enter:
gateway.psu-erie.bd.psu.edu

Choose:
Save



Step 4:
Setup the Remote Desktop settings by going to Remote Remote Desktops

Enter:
Your PC Name
Enter your credentials: Example: psu-erie\abc123

Choose: 
Save

Note: Any prompts for credentials need to have psu-erie\ included prior to your username.



Select remote on future uses





iPad

     

Step 1: Go to https://trusted.bd.psu.edu to setup your user account to use Remote Lab. (this is only required once a semester or when you change your Access account password)

Step 2:
 Download and open the free Microsoft Remote Desktop app for iPad

Step 3: Configure the Gateway by going to Settings -- Gateway

Enter:
gateway.psu-erie.bd.psu.edu

Choose:
Save




Step 4:
Setup the Remote Desktop settings by going to New Remote Desktop

Enter Connection Name: Remote (or whatever you want)
Enter PC Name:  YourPCcomputername
.psu-erie.bd.psu.edu
Enter your credentials: Example: psu-erie\abc123
Gateway:  Select gateway.psu-erie.bd.psu.edu


Choose: 
Save

Note: Any prompts for credentials need to have psu-erie\ included prior to your username.




Step 5: Available Remote Desktop services will be populated under Remote Desktops...please select "remote"  (example below)




Android

Step 1:
Go to https://trusted.bd.psu.edu to setup your user account to use Remote Lab. (this is only required once a semester or when you change your Access account password)

Step 2:  
Download the free Microsoft Remote Desktop app for Android

Step 3:
Configure the Gateway by going to Settings -- Gateway

Enter:
gateway.psu-erie.bd.psu.edu

Enter your credentials: Example: psu-erie\abc123

Note: Any prompts for credentials need to have psu-erie\ included prior to your username


Choose:
Save (checkmark at top right)



Step 4: Setup the Remote Desktop settings by going to Remote Desktop

Enter a name for your connection: YourPC
Enter your PC Name:  YourPCname
Select the gateway from step 3: gateway.psu-erie.bd.psu.edu
Enter your credentials: Example: psu-erie\abc123

Choose: 
Save (checkmark at top right)


Step 5: Select the connection you just created in step 4 to connect
